Expedia, Inc: The World's Largest Travel Company
Expedia, Inc. traces its roots to the world of Microsoft when a small division launched Expedia.com, one of the first online travel booking sites. Following early success, the company went public in 1999 and was soon purchased by InterActive Corp, formerly TicketMaster. InterActive Corp also acquired a number of other travel brands including TripAdvisor, Hotels.com and Hotwire.com before wrapping all of the companies into Expedia, Inc. in 2005. From there the company only grew and adapted to the changing travel industry with new acquisitions and spinoffs. The infographic below outlines what Expedia Inc. looks like today.
