Mobile is changing the travel industry
The Internet disrupted the travel industry in a huge way as the first online travel booking sites emerged in the mid 1990's, and today mobile is impacting the industry even further. The convenience that mobile provides is uniquely suited to assist travelers. According to comScore, online U.S. travel sales were more than $100 billion in 2012, and mobile is estimated to make up more than 25% of total U.S. sales by 2015. As tablets become more popular, traffic in the travel industry is noticing. Tablets accounted for 11% of all time spent on travel sites in April 2013.
"Everyone from the hotels to the airlines should be focused on improving the overall customer experience through mobile services," explains Julie Ask, principal analyst at Forrester Reserch.
